摘要: In the present invention encapsulated liquid crystal material in a support medium illuminated from viewing side or direction will appear bright white relative to background when distorted alignment, e.g. absence of an electric field. Incident light impinging on is isotropically scattered thereby into medium, and using principle total internal reflection relatively large part reflected back illuminate tending brighten same so that it scatters out causes as compared where there no parallel alignment field-on condition, i.e. aligned with respect field, and, thus, substantially transmissive. Original incident material, which toward non-viewing display within certain cone solid angle, passing through (field-on) tend not be totally internally reflected; such pass may absorbed by remote black colored material.
