摘要: OBJECTIVES One reason for insufficient hearing improvement with a distinct air-bone gap after ossiculoplasty implantation of partial or total ossicular replacement prostheses can be the dislocation minimal shifting prosthesis. The aim this study was simulation common clinical borderline situations prosthesis in temporal bone specimens ossiculoplasty. It furthermore goal to identify these specific through imaging by cone beam computed tomography (cbCT) and direct visual inspection using operation microscope. Additionally, functional status evaluated laser-Doppler vibrometry (LDV). DESIGN We used four study. A reconstruction performed three one specimen, good initial acoustic properties. Subsequently, type failure simulated each respectively, minimally shifting, tilting, bending from their positions. These changes were introduced step-by-step until situation just short complete decoupling reached. Each step examined both LDV cbCT observed RESULTS able quantify mechanic function chain most manipulation steps demonstrating effect any on middle ear transfer function. However, some situations, better visually more advanced In addition, showed excellent resolution delineate soft tissue (e.g., cartilage covering). CONCLUSION seems promising technique problems. As exhibited slightly different advantages disadvantages regarding demonstration combination techniques allowed precise evaluation reconstructions. Knowledge characteristics methods possible might help otologists otosurgeons refine indications revision surgery improve personal patient counseling.
