A Point Mutation of Adh1 Gene is Involved in the Repression of Coleoptile Elongation under Submergence in Rice

摘要: In higher plants, alcoholic fermentation is required to supply NAD+ the glycolytic pathway, which responsible for ATP synthesis under anaerobic conditions. Matsumura et al. (1995) previously isolated reduced adh activity (rad) mutant in rice, elongation of coleoptile repressed submergence. However, rad gene had not been characterized. present study, we observed that, coleoptile, Adh1 mRNA levels were comparable between and wild type cultivar Kinmaze, while amount ADH1 protein was much lower than type. Sequencing showed that G106 Kinmaze replaced with A mutant, resulting an E36K substitution deduced amino acid sequence. genotyping experiment using F2 plants from a cross indica Kasalath indicated point mutation involved repression elongation. Furthermore, since ADH appeared cause deficiency, submerged mutant.
