摘要: INTRODUCTION: the low birth weight (LBW) is considered one of most important public health problems around world, contributing substantially to infantile morbidity and mortality. OBJECTIVES: estimate proportion identify factors associated. METHOD: cross-sectional study which examined 3220 statements births relating occurring in city Cruzeiro do Sul, Acre, period 2006 2007, resident mothers this locality. In analysis, linear regression generalized with Poisson family logarithmic linking robust variance, simple multiple was used, a significance level 0.10. RESULTS: 9.13%. Factors associated were: prematurity, at home, female, maternal age between 12 13 years, 16 17 18 19 more than 34 achieving 1-3 pre-natal consultations, non-white children, no occupation outside home single mothers. CONCLUSION: few (or none) found are susceptible change or control isolated actions. Wide variety strategies needed reduce LBW when occurred attention should be given child.
