摘要: Summary Labeling regenerating axons with axonally transported radioactive proteins provides information about the location of entire range from fastest growing ones to those which are trapped in scar. We have used this technique study regeneration motor rat sciatic nerve after a crush lesion. From 2 14 days lumbar spinal cord was exposed by laminectomy and multiple injections [3H]proline were made stereotactically ventral horn. Twenty-four hours later nerves removed distribution radioactivity along measured liquid scintillation counting. There peak distal due an accumulation label tips these axons. After delay of3.2 ± 0.2 (S.E.) days, advanced down at rate of3.0 0.1 mm/day. The leading edge peak, marks endings most rapidly labeled fibers, moved of4.4 mm/day of2.1 days; is same time course as that sensory nerve, pinch test. Another site, presumed represent ends unregenerated or misdirected sprouts, declined during first week, more slowly thereafter.
