摘要: The objective of this study is to estimate selected costs and benefits meeting the 2022 biofuel production mandates using switchgrass as feedstock. This involves simulation three scenarios evaluate cost protecting promoting biodiversity while producing for biofuel. Two models are used in study. first, Biofuels Facility Location Analysis Modeling Endeavor (BioFLAME), was developed at University Tennessee biorefinery location, feed stock source areas associated with production. second model by Nature Conservancy part Tennessee’s State Wildlife Action Plans (TN SWAP) locate which state most valuable biodiversity. For TN SWAP hotspots Tennessee. Those were then included BioFLAME model. Three modeled BioFLAME. first scenario sought only meet a goal 300 million gallons per year. third regulations protect promote applied near (within 10 miles) hotspots. Scenario 3 strictest. results showed that applying increases producers and, eventually, fuel consumers. also forced away from where it could be less beneficial Regulations impacted locations. movement location increased feedstock transportation would eventually passed on
