摘要: The morphostratigraphyof two macrotidal, low energy, sandy barrier systems on the central Queensland coastlme (Australia) were investigated. barriers contain transgressive and regressive sequences are underlain by a continuous layer of basal mud, which is exposed at approximately 10 m water depth. thickness macrotidal 8-12 m, limited vertical extent ascribed to wave energy level (wave height < 0.6 m) gentle gradient continental shelf (1/1,000) off coastline. Offshore sediment seismic data indicate an inner depleted Holocene sediments, with pre-Holocene substratum outcropping in many places. stratigraphy both suggests that (a) sea was about 2 higher than present maximum postglacial marine transgression (PMT) (b) tidal window may have occurred close PMT.
