摘要: Abstract Karnataka and the adjacent areas of Tamil Nadu Andhra Pradesh in Peninsular India are characterized by sublinear ‘greenstone belts’ set a tonalite-trondhjemite dominated gneissic terrain (mainly 3400-3000 Ma) skirted high grade metamorphic (amphibolite-granulite facies) belt south east. The greenstone belts divided into sedimentary-volcanic Sargur-Holenarsipur-Nuggihalli type (> 3000 Ma), volcanic-dominated Kolar-Ramagiri-Hutti (⩾ sediment-dominated Dharwar (3000-2600 arranged order increasing areal coverage. granulite facies metamorphism Gneiss associated supracrustals took place 2500–2600 Ma ago. first is poor ore content.
