摘要: This paper uses new data from EU-SILC for twenty-six European countries to examine the structure and distribution of material deprivation in enlarged EU. We identify three distinct dimensions relating consumption, household facilities neighbourhood environment, construct indices these each country EU as a whole. The extent variation across welfare regimes is shown depend on dimension which one focuses, does strength association with income subjective economic stress. index consumption has by far highest correlation income, provides highly reliable measure itself, allows segments population be identified that are sharply differentiated terms their multi-dimensional profiles. On basis this evidence we make some suggestions manner measurement Union should developed through proposed special module will form part 2009 wave EU-SILC.
