摘要: The role of non-bilayer lipids and non-lamellar lipid phases in biological membranes is an enigmatic problem membrane biology. Non-bilayer are present large amounts all membranes; energy-converting they constitute about half their total content-yet functional state a bilayer. In vitro experiments revealed that the functioning water-soluble violaxanthin de-epoxidase (VDE) enzyme plant thylakoids requires presence phase. 31P-NMR spectroscopy has provided evidence on polymorphism thylakoid membranes. Here we reveal reversible pH- temperature-dependent changes lipid-phase behaviour, particularly flexibility isotropic phases, isolated spinach thylakoids. These reorganizations accompanied by permeability thermodynamic parameters appear to control activity VDE photoprotective mechanism non-photochemical quenching chlorophyll-a fluorescence. data demonstrate, for first time native membranes, modulation
