摘要: Abstract Amplification of the HER-2/neu oncogene was determined in 362 tumors from patients with primary breast cancer (185 node-positive and 177 node-negative patients). The overall amplification rate 33% (30% for patients; 31% 1–3 positive nodes; 40% >3 nodes). Gene copy number not associated axillary lymph node status, steroid receptor or patient age but weakly correlated size tumor. gene did correlate either disease-free survival univariate multivariate analyses. results were unambiguously negative disease. Although marginally significant (P = 0.07), significance retained Thus, while may be biologically important cancer, it will only marginal utility as a prognostic factor predicting clinical outcome.
