摘要: Abstract Background Carnitine plays a critical role in lipid metabolism. deficiency may adversely affect the oxidation of fatty acids and further aggravate abnormal Our objective was to investigate effect theophylline on activity carnitine palmitoyltransferase (CPT) renal tissues rats for 5-week-interval treatments. Methods The study randomized, controlled animal study. Theophylline given at 100 mg/kg body weight (b.w.)/day effects were monitored after treatment period between 1 5 weeks. Results caused significant increase CPT as compared either control or placebo groups. Moreover, results showed positive correlations concentration long-chain acylcarnitine (LC), CPT, urinary excretion (AC), plasma LC (p Conclusions observed changes might be due result from theophylline-enhanced mobilization adipose that consequently stimulated an increased transport into form palmitoylcarnitine groups subsequent β-oxidation inside mitochondria. Thus, these accumulations mitochondria catalytic action CPT.
