摘要: Island radiations are often regarded as natural laboratories that allow us to study evolution in action. The genus Schiedea (Caryophyllaceae) is one of the largest angiosperms Hawaiian Islands, and globosa few species be found on more than main islands. DNA sequences from nineteen nuclear three chloroplast regions show a pattern colonization older younger islands (west east), with concomitant decrease genetic diversity eastwards (p = 0.53% for O‘ahu, 0.43% Moloka‘i 0.36% Maui). While polymorphisms maternally inherited have become fixed different (FST 0.804), significant gene flow between inferred genome 0.270). This appears uneven, most outwards central island. extent inter-island through wind pollination was assessed an isolation–migration framework; rate, c. 1 migrant per generation, may sufficient prevent divergence S. populations ensure cohesion following new
