摘要: Rationale: Growth differentiation factor (GDF)-15 is a cytokine induced in the heart after ischemia or pressure overload. Circulating levels of GDF-15 provide independent prognostic information patients with acute coronary syndromes failure. Objectives: We investigated value pulmonary embolism. Methods: In prospective cohort study, plasma were determined by immunoradiometric assay 123 consecutive confirmed embolism.Measurements and Main Results: concentrations on admission ranged from 553 to 47,274 ng/L; 101 (82%) had above upper limit normal (1,200 ng/L). Patients who experienced embolism–related complications during first 30 days higher baseline (median, 6,039 [25th 75th percentiles, 2,778 19,772] ng/L) compared those an uncomplicated course 2,036 1,279 3,176] P < 0.001).
