摘要: Habitat valuation can provide an objective basis for the prioritisation of conservation and restoration actions. The attribution fisheries production to particular habitat units is important measure value, but difficult estimate. Using case study use by juvenile banana prawns in a tropical estuary, we assessed potential produce valid value estimates at two spatio-conceptual scales: estuary reach whole estuary. Additionally, we also explore meaningful value scale of whole contribution offshore stock. A diversity actual sources error logical problems means that quantification any best of uncertain validity produces are likely unreliable results if treated as quantitative inputs models. Estimates were the most viable, although still requiring substantial assumptions may or not be reasonable in situations. individual habitats required unreasonable assumption limited prawn movement, while the fishery difficult-to-obtain usually unavailable information. Because low occupancy habitats have trophic used stable isotope analysis assess the importance mangroves saltmarshes nutrition. No was of critical importance, again suggesting habitat-production link usefully assessed whole-of-estuary scale. While valuable support targeted ecosystem management protection restoration efforts, valid contribution of unachievable many
