摘要: Serrated adenoma of the colorectum was a newly proposed entity in 1990, characterized by epithelial neoplasia combining architectural features hyperplastic (metaplastic) polyp with cytological an adenoma. Its histogenesis and natural history still remain unclear. Forty-six serrated adenomas were obtained from 46 patients. The clinicopathological summarized. Paraffin-embedded blocks 34 available for immunohistochemical studies using pS2, human gastric mucin, p53 protein. Eighteen polyps, 16 tubular adenomas, 12 early-stage adenocarcinomas randomly selected as control groups analysis. patients' ages ranged 32 to 86 (average 61.4) years. Males more frequently affected than females. predominantly present left-side colon rectum (72 per cent). Their sizes 3 26 mm 9. 2mm). Six lesions (13 cent) contained foci high-grade dysplasia. These significantly larger (12.7 mm) those containing no dysplasia (8.6mm). pS2 mucin expressed both polyps or adenocarcinomas. p53-positive cells 18 29 pure (62 one five areas low-grade (20 cent), most which revealed sporadic distribution. Only serated (17 regarded demonstrating overexpression. On other hand, three (60 diffuse positivity (3+) adenoma, possibly shows differentiation, is considered be independent histological among various phenotypes colorectal adenomas. would seem precursor carcinoma, its potential malignant transformation being similar that traditional It also involved adenoma-carcinoma sequence.
