摘要: A study has been carried out to investigate the influence of soot-contaminated automotive lubricants in wear process a simulated engine valve train contact. Previous research on this topic mainly performed from chemical point view fundamental studies, with insufficient relevance real conditions, i.e. load and geometry. This investigates conditions under which occurs through specimen testing. The objective work was understand mechanisms that occur within contaminated contact zone, help future development predictive model assist valve-train design process. effects soot have tested using reciprocating test-rig specifically designed for application, where steel disc is held bath oil ball (replicating contact) attached arm. materials, geometry loading are all related specific experienced an engine's train. testing various carbon black as simulant. Wear measurements were taken during tests scar morphology studied. results revealed how varying lubrication changes rate components determines mechanism dominates situations.
