摘要: AbstractThere have been several proposals for the mechanism by which we are able to recognize an object across a numberof viewpoints. Viewpoint-dependent accounts suggest that recognition may be based on incrementaltransformation (e.g., mental rotation) strategy, while variety of viewpoint-independent mechanisms objectrecognition also proposed. Recent research in neurobiology, two cortical visual systemsaccount, processes viewpoint-dependent and relyon separate anatomical regions, brain lesions leave patients with selective access particular types ofrepresentation. Evidence from neuropsychological disorders reviewed support position thatviewpoint-independent depends upon integrity occipitotemporal structures. In addition, it issuggested (perhaps depending occipitoparietal structures) supplementthis primary system under nonoptimal circumstances.
