摘要: Star clusters are remarkably efficient (relative to the field) at making type Ia supernovae candidates: very short period, massive double-white-dwarf stars and giant-white dwarf binaries. The high frequency of these systems is result dynamical encounters between (mostly) primordial binaries other cluster stars. Orbital hardening rapidly drives degenerate periods under ∼ 10 hours. Gravitational radiation emission mergers then produce supra-Chandrasekhar objects in less than a Hubble time. We also find that free-floating planets can remain bound star for much longer was previously assumed: order half-mass relaxation timescale as opposed crossing-time. our N -body study Jupiter mass initially placed circular orbits 0.05 50 AU about parent whose chosen from realistic initial function. This important context preliminary detection population sub-stellar globular M22.
