摘要: Background The study aimed to assess the prevalence and causes of corneal blindness in a rural northern Chinese population. Design Cross-sectional study. Participants or Samples The cluster random sampling method was used select sample. Methods This population-based included 11 787 participants all ages Heilongjiang Province, China. These underwent detailed interview eye examination that measurement visual acuity, slit-lamp biomicroscopy direct ophthalmoscopy. An considered have if acuity <9/18 because diseases. Main Outcome Measures The main outcome measure rates low vision. Results Among 10 384 people enrolled study, is 0.3% (95% confidence interval 0.2–0.4%). The leading cause keratitis childhood (40.0%), followed by ocular trauma (33.3%) adulthood (20.0%). Age illiteracy were found be associated with an increased blindness. Conclusion Blindness diseases areas Northern China significant public health problem needs given more attention.
