摘要: Abstract Ethnopharmacological relevance Tropaeolum majus L. (Tropaeolaceae) is a medicinal herb popularly used in Brazil for treatment of inflammatory and cardiovascular diseases. Despite some published data on its efficacy, there are still few toxicological describing the safety this plant. The aim study was to evaluate (anti)estrogenic (anti)androgenic activity hydroethanolic extract obtained from (HETM), as well possible effects uterine contractility. Materials methods Three experimental protocols were performed, (a) uterotrophic assay, (b) Hershberger assay (c) an ex vivo test investigate maternal administration HETM contractility at end pregnancy. In all three doses administered Wistar rats: 3, 30 300 mg/kg. Results tests detection activities did not show any significant alterations. Similarly, no alterations observed induced by oxytocin arachidonic acid. Conclusions unable produce or short-term screening assays performed. addition, evidence that can affect following gestational exposure rats.
