摘要: Summary A single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP; C vs. T) that creates an extra GATA-1 site (T allele) in intron 4 of the swine erythropoietin receptor (EPOR) gene was discovered and a genotyping assay for this SNP developed. total 402 gilts from lines selected either at random (control), ovulation rate (OR) or uterine capacity (UC) 11 generations were unilaterally hysterectomized-ovariectomized (UHO) 160 days age, mated approximately 250 age slaughtered 105 pregnancy. Blood samples spleens collected each foetus numbers corpora lutea (CL) live foetuses, weights placenta, foetal haematocrit recorded. In addition, intact OR line Yorkshire, Landrace, Duroc, crossbred (BX) farrowed. At farrowing, fully formed piglets recorded litter. Genomic DNA isolated both UHO gilts, foetuses heterozygous EPOR SNP, boars BX then used to determine genotypes. Only CC CT observed control, UC lines. Presence T allele associated (P < 0.05) with increased these gilts. The number homozygous did not differ within litters, genotype influence haematocrit. line, litter size significantly genotype. Finally, results which gilt boar genotypes known, allowed analysis effect and/or on size. This indicated predicted (with as covariate) (an increase 2.6 ± 1.0 born alive litters compared P 0.01) whereas (adjusted genotype) significant. These indicate is two distinct populations could be useful increasing are limited OR.
