摘要: We report a new technique for passive Q-switching of low-power lasers, which exploits nonlinear reflection from liquefying gallium mirror. Self-start has been achieved in an Er3+:Yb3+ fiber laser circulating intracavity powers only few milliwatts. The produced continuous train pulses as short 1µs at repetition rates tens kilohertz with peak 0.5W. Due to the broadband reflective nature nonlinearity gallium, should be applicable wide range systems.
