Spin filtering due to quantum interference in periodic mesoscopic networks

摘要: Abstract We present several new results, extending our recent proposal of a spin filter based on tight-binding model for periodic chain diamond-like loops [A. Aharony, O. Entin-Wohlman, Y. Tokura, S. Katsumoto, Phys. Rev. B 78 (2008) 125328]. In this filter, the Rashba spin–orbit interaction (which can be tuned by perpendicular gate voltage) and Aharonov–Bohm flux (due to magnetic field) combine select only one propagating ballistic mode. For mode, electronic spins are fully polarized along direction that controlled electric fields electron energy. All other modes evanescent. Generalizing square diamonds into rhombi with arbitrary opening angles, we find increasing these angles widens parameter range efficient filtering. A different voltage two sides each rhombus is found delocalize electrons energies side band center. also compare models which use continuous quantum networks one-dimensional wires, coincidence when chooses particular site at nodes network.
