A quasi 3-D model of an outburst pattern that explains the behavior of Comet 17P/Holmes

摘要: Abstract Upon discovery, in November of 1892, Comet 17P/Holmes was experiencing a very strong explosion, which repeated itself on an even greater scale October 2007. Using numerical scheme, based mass and energy conservation laws, model is presented simulating the outbursting nature by regarding comet as stratified sphere. The model, adopting input parameters for physical chemical characteristics, produces output volatile, water dust production rates temperature distribution. Providing with known properties 17P/Holmes, then filling blanks other short period comets, allowed derivation specific composition thermal conductivity that produced recurring outburst pattern every ∼30 years, while within these there near-perihelion ∼10 2  years. generated desired results, consists ice-dust ratio 0.6/0.4, fractions 0.015, 0.002 0.0005 CO, CO NH 3 accordingly. effective accompanying this K d  = 0.7 W/(m K). results are consistent observations multiple levels, including various during outbursts time span between near perihelion outbursts.
