摘要: This chapter discusses a subset of the field neuroprosthetics focused on surgical treatment options for one-third to one-fourth patients with drug-resistant epilepsy who remain ineligible resective surgery. It provides discussion both FDA-approved and nonapproved modalities, as well key techniques, risks, benefits, underlying mechanisms, efficacy each modality. Modalities discussed include vagal nerve stimulation (VNS), deep brain (DBS), responsive neurostimulation (RNS), transcranial magnetic (TMS), trigeminal (eTNS), experimental therapies such optogenetics. When appropriate, trials are summarized.
