摘要: The present article reports on the telencephalic connections of regions dorsal telencephalon weakly electric fish Apteronotus leptorhynchus and Gymnotus sp. that are involved in learning memory: lateral (DL), central (DC), (DD) pallium intermediate region between DL DC (Dx). We find main route transmission consists diencephalic (preglomerular complex; PG) glutamatergic input to DL; projections from Dx; output DC/Dx di-, mes-, rhombencephalic nuclei. Although PG efferents spatially organized, projection appears be diffuse. DD entirely intrinsic pallium: projects (glutamatergic) feeds back (glutamatergic); also has strong contralateral connections. In addition, receive subpallial regions; we suggest these associated with previously identified γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA)-ergic, dopaminergic, somatostatin-positive regions. DL/DD very complex, because receives different subdivisions DD. These linked by circuitry itself. both contain recurrent putatively excitatory as well local inhibitory (GABAergic) interneurons. contrast, absent DC, inhibition is barely present. Finally, speculate implications this pattern connectivity for theories short-term memory long-term associative memory. J. Comp. Neurol. 520:3333–3358, 2012. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
