Specific local relaxation and magnetism in mass-selected CoPt nanoparticles

摘要: We report the refined quantitative magnetic moments of size-selected 3 nm in diameter CoPt clusters at both Co and Pt-L2, edges. By combining high photon flux chemical selectivity synchrotron radiation delivered on ESRF beam lines, we have studied size effect local structure magnetism embedded carbon matrix upon annealing. On one hand, from Pt-L edges extended X-ray absorption fine (EXAFS) experiments simulations associated to previous Co-K edge ones, determined first-shell Co-Co, Co-Pt Pt-Pt coordination numbers mean atomic distances agreement with recent VASP ab initio calculations obtained for L10-like clusters. other circular dichroism (XMCD) investigations revealed a significant increase Pt chemically ordered compared bulk values while anisotropy energy (MAE) annealed samples is twice that as-prepared samples, but order magnitude smaller than what expected L10 bulk.
