摘要: Turbulence is ubiquitous in aquatic habitats and the velocity fluctuations that define turbulence challenge stability. Statistical measures of variation, turbulent kinetic energy, intensity, their spatial gradients correlate variously with limits to stability control, swimming performance, metabolism, habitat choice, abundance. Turbulent flow comprised structures form eddies or vortices. Eddy size, momentum, energy have negative effects on when they are same order as a fish. The body median paired fins act trimmers power-control surfaces minimizing correcting displacements due turbulence.
