摘要: Abstract We report investigations into the stability, morphology, internal microstructure and swelling behaviour of polydimethylsiloxane oil-in-water emulsions (1 vol.% monomer; 1 NH 3 solution; 25°C) prepared using mixtures difunctional (dimethyldiethoxysilane (DMDES)) trifunctional silane monomers. Both methyltriethoxysilane (MTES) 3-aminepropyltriethoxysilane (APTES) are potential cross-linkers owing to their trifunctionality. The addition MTES leads major changes in various properties PDMS droplets. Transmission electron microscopy was used observe transition between liquid droplets ([MTES] 50 vol.%). particles showed significantly reduced n -heptane comparison with This restriction on indicates formation internally cross-linked particles. 29 Si nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) mass spectroscopy demonstrated increased incorporation material polymers as concentration raised. chemical structure monomer shown be important, NMR suggests that APTES does not polymerize DMDES but may reside aqueous continuous phase a cationic oligomer. presence ethanol during particle causes enhanced swelling. size swollen particles, however, falls steeply is reduced. Overall data suggest microgels at high concentrations.
