摘要: Abstract The photoluminescence properties of the Eu3+ ion doped into α-cordierite were studied based on excitation and emission spectra lifetime measurements. These samples prepared by sol–gel method calcined heating xerogel at different temperatures: 873, 1133, 1223 1473 K. X-ray diffraction patterns used to characterize luminescent material. 5 D 0 → 7 F transition exhibits only one broad peak arising from inhomogeneous linewidth amorphous phase, except for ceramic material obtained 1473 K that presents two peaks. Also, in latter case luminescence decay a bi-exponential fit when excited 280 nm, corroborating exists sites symmetry. experimental intensity parameter Ω 2 (10.0×10−20 cm2) indicates moderately polarizable chemical environment around ion. Mg2Al4Si5O18:Eu3+ 1133 1223 K also presented profiles 5D0→7FJ transitions suggesting disorder On other hand, sample shows narrow bands indicating crystalline form. quantum efficiency (η) system is discussed.
