摘要: Naturally occurring charcoals are increasingly being recognized as effective sorbents for organic compounds. In this study we investigated the sorption of benzene and toluene in single-sorbate bi-sorbate systems on different types produced laboratory, employing batch technique. Air dried plant materials from Phalaris grass (Phalaris tuberosa) Red Gum wood (Eucalyptus camadulensis) were combusted under limited oxygen supply at 250 °C, 450 850 °C. The resulting characterized their specific surface areas, total cation content, pore size distributions (pore distribution only °C °C). For treated not area, microporosity, amount sorbed sorbate increased markedly, but also non-linearity isotherm. areas well an indifferent behaviour competition effects both sorbates indicated that filling mechanisms dominating processes governing these microporous, high temperature materials. lower temperatures affinity was higher compared to benzene. system overall uptake increased. These phenomena might be due stronger hydrophobicity toluene, a varying potential swelling matrix deformation by two sorbates. significantly capacity Phalaris-derived material charcoal correlated with its smaller area content.
