摘要: Background A reduction of IgE immunoreactivity after periodate-treatment has been previously reported for various glycoprotein allergens. Objective The aim this study was to investigate the role glycan moiety a C. arizonica extract in binding patients' and identify carbohydrates possibly involved. Methods The reactivity with extract, before periodate-treatment, evaluated by immunoblotting ELISA inhibition. The specificity carbohydrate-reactive using unrelated glycoproteins known sugar composition structure, such as pineapple bromelain, honeybee venom phospholipase A2, ovalbumin, periodate treatment. Results When periodate-treated probed SDS-PAGE IgE, no could be detected. Furthermore, very poor inhibitory activity compared untreated sample observed inhibition experiments performed antigen. When A2 bromelain were used antigens ELISA, they recognized whereas ovalbumin negative. Treatment completely abolishes reactivity. Conclusion A large portion Cupressaceae-allergic subjects appears associated moieties which appear shared thus suggesting that patients reacting epitopes probably react β 1 → 2 xylose, α 1 → 3 fucose and/or 1 → 6 fucose.
