A two stage respirable aerosol sampler using nuclepore filters in series

摘要: Abstract Respirable and nonrespirable particles are separately collected from the atmosphere in a size selective sampler consisting of two Nuclepore niters series. The first filter has pore diameters 12 μm collects, to close approximation, fraction as defined by ACGIH criteria. second 0.2 collects respirable fraction. Experimental measurements efficiency 12-μm found be good agreement with theoretical predictions based on calculated particle trajectories flow field that satisfies Navier-Stokes equations. Atmospheric samples were using both techniques series filtration virtual impaction. A mass elemental analysis aerosol deposits gravimetric X-ray fluorescence demonstrated results types comparable. Filter loading great 90 μg/cm2 was investigated produce no change performance measured location 50% cutpoint.
