摘要: The mechanisms underlying the induction of intraocular inflammation in rat model endotoxin-induced uveitis (EIU) and subsequent development tolerance after repeated endotoxin injections are poorly understood. Interleukin-6 (IL-6) was measured aqueous humor serum Lewis rats single into footpad. After a injection, rise aqueous-humor levels IL-6 seen 2 16 hr, respectively. highest level 20 hr postinjection tenfold that sample taken at same time, suggesting synthesis this cytokine. Four hours later most active total protein were observed. Repeated injection still resulted moderate but significant systemic release no detectable absence uveitis. Intravitreal endotoxin-free human recombinant (10-10(5) U) uveitis, resembling ocular response to endotoxin. There appeared be prozone effect regarding concentration. largest amount eyes injected with 10(2) U IL-6, increasing concentrations intravitreal showed corresponding decrease levels. In fellow saline-injected eyes, clear consensual observed regard extravasation protein, although uveitic grade these low or zero. unresponsiveness nine 11 rats.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)
