摘要: Millions of children ingest household products and medications yearly. The continuous proliferation new pharmaceutic agents makes it difficult for physicians to maintain a current command toxicologic information. Multiple sources, including poison control centers, can provide information; however, EPs must be familiar with several that are either significant their frequency or disproportionate potential morbidity mortality in pediatric patients. With this select group intoxicants, anticipate cardiovascular pulmonary instability rapid changes central nervous system functioning. Appropriate supportive care requires monitoring the following: vital signs, level consciousness, airway control, ventilation circulatory support, body temperature, urine output, acid base balance. Once these concerns addressed, prevention further absorption, enhancing product's elimination, treatment specific antidotes may enhance care. Care is also likely enhanced if EP recognizes inherent differences (medically socially) between adults various ages. Definitive emergency completed only after provision developmentally oriented preventive strategy.
