摘要: Plants respond to mechanical stress by adaptive changes in growth. Although this phenomenon is well established, the mechanism of perception forces plant cells not yet known. We provide evidence that cortical microtubules sub-adjacent growth-controlling outer epidermal cell wall maize coleoptiles extension and compression rapidly reorientating perpendicular direction effective force change. These findings shed new light on many seemingly unrelated observations microtubule reorientation growth factors such as or phytohormones. Moreover, our results suggest associated with plasma membrane are causally involved sensing vectorial information can be utilized orientation organ expansion.
