摘要: Objectives: Recent fMRI studies have shown that it is possible to reliably identify the default- mode network (DMN) in absence of any task, by resting-state connectivity analyses healthy vol- unteers. We here aimed DMN challenging patient population disorders con- sciousness encountered following coma. Experimental design: A spatial independent component analysis-based methodology permitted assessment, decomposing all its different sources either neuronal or artifactual. Three selection criteria were introduced assessing anti- correlation-corrected with without an automatic masking procedure and calculating scores encompassing both temporal properties. These three methods vali- dated on 10 controls applied group 8 11 severely brain-damaged patients (locked-in syndrome (n ¼ 2), minimally conscious 1), vege- tative state 8)). Principal observations: All vegetative showed fewer connections default-mode areas, when compared controls, contrary locked-in who near- normal connectivity. In conscious-state patient, only two consider- ing properties able intact right lateralized BOLD pattern, metabolic PET data suggested origin. Conclusions: When assess-
