摘要: BitTorrent-based peer-to-peer networks constitute a significant share of Internet traffic. Therefore, the IETF working group on application layer traffic optimization (ALTO) discusses several approaches for guiding BitTorrent that aim at reducing large amount inter-ISP costs caused by these networks. However, performance evaluations are mostly limited to artificial scenarios do not take into account real topology with its relationships and actual distribution users across autonomous systems (AS). In this study, we use measurements number live combine them AS-level provided Caida.org. Based data, estimate in which tier hierarchy is mainly located how much potential exists different types ISPs. Therewith, flow revenue implications Internet-wide swarms analyzed. Our results show tier-1 ISPs profit from un-managed exchange profits significantly decrease when other would apply ALTO solutions.
