摘要: NASA has the need to efficiently store cryogenic propellants in space for long periods of time. One method improve storage efficiency is use multi-layer insulation (MLI), a technique that minimizes boiling rate due radiation heat transfer. Typically, thermal performance MLI determined by measuring evaporation liquid nitrogen from calibrated cryostat. The main limitation with this testing conditions are restricted temperature LN2, which may not match requirements application. Multi-Layer Insulation Thermal Conductivity Experiment (MIKE) at National High Magnetic Field Laboratory capable effective conductivity variable boundary temperatures.
