摘要: We report evidence for a discrete localized enhancement of total electron content (TEC) in magnetic-conjugate regions at dusk the American sector during large magnetic storms. After their formation, conjugate enhancements persist these longitudes and corotate into night sector. use ground-based GPS TEC Millstone Hill radar observations, DMSP overflights to investigate this phenomenon. Both poleward eastward components disturbance electric field are needed account observed redistribution cold plasma low mid latitudes inside plasmapause. conclude that horizontal transport associated with fields is dominant mechanism producing enhancements. The repeatability geographic localization feature indicate longitudinal specificity process its formation. This long-lasting serves as corotating source erosion plumes storm-enhanced density seen such events.
