摘要: Background Appropriate use criteria (AUC) for transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) were developed to address concerns regarding inappropriate of TTE. A previous pilot study suggests that an educational and feedback intervention can reduce TTEs ordered by physicians in training. It is unknown if this type will be effective when targeted at attending level a variety clinical settings. Aims The aim international, multicenter evaluate the hypothesis AUC-based proportion echocardiograms ambulatory environment. Methods In ongoing multicentered, investigator-blinded, randomized controlled trial across Canada United States, cardiologists primary care practicing setting enrolled. arm receive (1) lecture outlining AUC most recent available evidence highlighting appropriate TTE, (2) access American Society Echocardiography mobile phone app, (3) individualized reports e-mailed monthly summarizing TTE ordering behavior including information on brief explanations designation. control group no education order as usual practice. Conclusions Echo WISELY (Will Inappropriate Scenarios Lessen Significantly RCT) first intervention. examine whether rate outpatient ( www.clinicaltrials.gov identifier NCT02038101).
