摘要: Objective: To examine and evaluate the predominant common etiologic agent(s) of urinary tract infection (UTI) in Sukkur city to determine their current antibiotic susceptibility/resistance trends. Methods: Nine hundred sixty six patients out of 1430 abnormal urine reports (showing significant abnormalities such as protein, pus, red cells) were asked give second sample. The samples examined by both test strip (Combur 10 Test, Roche) microscopically (wet preparation) followed culture sensitivity. The culture sensitivity was done on which bacterial numbers estimated as more than 105CFU. study conducted at Safeway Diagnostic Research Laboratory Department Microbiology, Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur, Sindh from March 2001 2003. Results: Eight fifty-two (88.2%) showed Escherichia spp by Klebsiella (6.9%) proteus (4.9%). These 95%, 90%, 90% sensitivity to ofloxacin respectively. Ninety percent isolates spp, Proteus and Klebsiella sensitive ciprofloxacin. Conclusion: found be major uropathogen and ciprofloxacin effective antibiotics against these strains isolated UTI of Sukkur city. (Rawal Med J 2007;32:99-101).
