摘要: Abstract Jennifer Lackey (2018) has developed an account of the primary form group assertion, according to which groups assert when a suitably authorized spokesperson speaks for group. In this paper I pose challenge Lackey's account, arguing that her obscures phenomenon silencing. This is because, in contrast alternative approaches view assertions (and speech acts generally) as social acts, implies speakers can successfully regardless how their utterances are taken up by audiences. What reflection on silencing shows us, argue, adequate assertion needs find place uptake.
