The fertilization of non-nucleated fragments of Echinoderm-eggs

摘要: 1. Non-nucleated fragments of the egg fertilized by one spermatozoon may segment and such pieces have been found as late 16-cell-stage. 2. Some were large enough, judging from results development nucleated fragments, to produce “partial larvae”. 3. The spermatozoa Echinus enter with same difficulty non-nucleated Sphaerechinus that they do whole eggs. 4. The crossed larvae (and also Strongylocentrotus lividus Sphaerechinus) show a great amount variability in skeleton. 5. Amongst percentage forms showing pure Echinus-type skeleton will be found. The resultSeeliger has obtained. 6. The taken all together not exclude possibility ofBoveri's experiment, but thatBoveri's conclusion rests on insufficient unsound evidence.
