摘要: We have given here a formulation for calculating the electromagnetic fields near metal surface exposed to an external radiation. For sake of simplicity, has been treated as semi-infinite jellium with no restriction on profile. The solutions Maxwell's wave equations considered separately in three regions, vacuum, bulk and surface. In first two simple forms correspond asymptotic fields. region, introducing "surface solutions" modifications over their forms, exact procedure determination developed. It is computationally tractable method allowed discussions various approximations. particular, we examined detail physical origin, illustration, discussed extensively limiting cases semi-classical infinite barrier model, long wavelength limit. shown explicitly that arise essentially from particle-hole excitations.
