Dealing with existential themes in acceptance and commitment therapy : a qualitative interview study

摘要: The present paper firstly reviews the relevance of death anxiety and meaning in life for psychotherapy, their place Existential Therapies, as well Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT). Secondly, a following qualitative interview study explores how ACT therapists deal with these themes therapy practice. Nearly all were familiar clients who struggle lack life. A range strategies found, which can be subsumed under seven thematic categories. There was disagreement among respondents on whether one should explore client’s worldview meaning-making regarding life, this possibly contradicts Relational Frame Theory (RFT), philosophical foundation ACT. Finally, gives first indications that is suitable form to help existential themes.
