摘要: Prosecuting those arrested for the unlawful possession, distribution or importation of illicit drugs, such as powder cocaine, crack heroin and LSD, is usually both time-consuming expensive, primarily because need to determine "beyond a reasonable doubt" total amount drugs seized in each case. Accuracy important since penalties (imprisonment fines) depend upon quantity seized. Substantial backlogs processing drug cases often develop result. In some jurisdictions, complete testing analysis all substances froma defendant are custom ary support case, while other jurisdictions randomsam pling subsequent pre- sentation an estimate have been used many years. Due pressure from crime laboratories prosecutors, who point major increases their caseloads well trend toward decreasing funding staffing laboratories, which currently carry out census evidence now seriously considering change methodology with view instituting new guidelines scientific sampling evidence. this article, we discuss statistical legal issues that arisen involving drugs.
