摘要: AbstractA sample of 260 basketry-impressed Palmettan Ostionoid sherds were analyzed from the Pigeon Creek Site, a 15th-century Lucayan-Taino site located on San Salvador, Commonwealth Bahamas. The study is part larger project examining geographic distribution basketry technology and design sites varying time periods islands throughout Bahama archipelago northern Greater Antilles. Three subclasses basket weaves recognized impressions recorded in molds casts. Several complex designs identified. A four-row sequence we term “A” pattern was used to create patterns. roles baskets as trade, tribute, or gift exchange Lucayan- Taino society potential for using variability infer social boundaries are discussed.
