REVIEW—Graphical Displays of the Thermodynamics of High‐Temperature Gas‐Solid Reactions and Their Application to Oxidation of Metals and Evaporation of Oxides

摘要: Abstract : The construction and utility of volatility diagrams - isothermal plots showing the partial pressures two gaseous species in equilibrium with several condensed phases possible a system are demonstrated for simple oxides reference to Mg-O, Al-O, Si-O systems compared Ellingham-type representations these same data. Both types useful providing format great deal thermodynamic information. Their use is illustrated by analyzing oxidation Mg, Al, Si volatilization MgO, Al2O3, SiO2 both neutral reducing gases. (jes)
